Our first big project in the Bay Area, we began on this Oakland Hills garden in 2003, only a decade after the property was destroyed by the Oakland fire. This was initially a native garden but the owner has eclectic tastes and a curiosity about plants. The project has become an exploration of what works in this unfenced wild habitat with a creek running through it. We have used rock, wood, wire, concrete and clay to form this haven for our the owners and the many wild and domesticated animals that share this spot with them. It is a joy for us to work with clients who love and work in their own gardens and who give us the freedom to do our best and most creative work.
